Successful overhaul at BP Rotterdam
During the scheduled shutdown at the BP refinery in Rotterdam at the end of 2011, Howden Thomassen Compressors (HTC) overhauled two C-25.2 reciprocating compressors.
In August 2011 Howden Thomassen's local partner in Korea, Taesan, installed 4 Free Floating Pistons™ in a Boil-Off Gas (BOG) compressor at the Tongyong plant of Kogas. This non-Thomassen, 2 stage 4 cylinder compressor operates at a temperature of -140°C.
Scattered over three Korean locations Kogas operates compressors of various makes & models.
One of Kogas' goals is to reduce costs by increasing reliability and availability of its rotating equipment including reciprocating compressors. Howden Thomassen's proven FFP™ technology significantly contributes to these objectives. As a consequence, the BOG compressor was retrofitted with this technology.
